| Brenda Behr holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University in New York State. In June of 2003, after more than 30 years as a successful advertising art director and graphic designer in Minneapolis, Brenda returned home to North Carolina. The artist has sold her work in galleries and art centers throughout the state and is quickly growing in popularity and demand. Brenda paints much of her work on location, considering plein air painting to be the most challenging and evocative way to paint. Brenda is seldom without her sketchbooks and paints. Her good nature and innate interest in people as human beings and as subjects make her a fun artist to follow. Her paintings are in private collections across the United States, in England, France and Japan, and in corporate collections that include the University of North Carolina, Captive-Aire Systems, New Century Bank, Parker Poe, and First South Bank. I had the opportunity to watch Brenda paint in James Reed Lane in May. |
