Janet has spent much of her life in the arts, a native of Texas, she holds a BA from Smith College and an MA from UNC-Chapel Hill. In addition to being a painter Ms Adkins is also a published poet and taught French for many years at the high school and college levels.

Janet says “Painting is work and wonder, an ever-fascinating puzzle to solve, the adventure of a lifetime!”

Viewing her work is like taking a tour of our waterways, from the beach, to the barrier islands, to the fishing boats on the river, all are captured in warm, rich color. Much of her inspiration comes from sitting in her window and watching the constantly changing Neuse River.
