Stephen Moore Fiumelatte Buildings SOLD
Acrylic on Canvas, 20 inches x 16 inches x 3/4 inch, framed. Painting in Varena was not practical, there were hoards of Italians and other Europeans all on vacation there. It was busy and there was not space for painters in the narrow walkways that are typical of old Italian towns.
We were without a car, so asked the very kind folks at the Hotel Du Lac where a good spot might be. Fiumalatte, a town that shared the name of the cold, milky looking river that streamed out of the mountains and through it into the lake, was only a fifteen to twenty minute walk away. She was sure that I would like some of the spots there.
So with painting gear strapped onto our backs, only scuba divers have more stuff, we plodded off to find the views in Fiumalatte. Our reward was the above painting, lots of photos, and sore knees. I left the experience wondering what it would be like to go all the way around Lake Como painting en route. Maybe next time I will get this chance, but I will need to learn some more Italian first.
